Top 5 Movies Featuring Cats
I love cats. Many people share my love! One of the basic guide rules for actors is never act with kids or animals. These are the best cinematic examples of movies where actors straight up broke that rule for the love of cats. Did I miss any cat classics? Let me know in the comments!
5. The Adventures of Milo and Otis (1986)
This adorable children's movie follows the adventure of a little orange kitty named Milo and a dog named Otis. So, even if you're more of a dog lover, you'll still appreciate this one. This little gem was originally made for Japanese tv, and was re-dubbed with English and heavily edited for a "happier" story line for Americans. WARNING: This movie may break the Adorable-O-Meter. Don't say I didn't warn you.
4. Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993)
The voices of Sally Field, Michael J. Fox, and Don Ameche bring these adorable little critters to life. A golden retriever, a bulldog, and yes,...a meow meow kitty are all on another insane adventure through the wilderness looking for home. It's sweet, laughably adorable, and captivating for kids. Play this for modern tech-saturated kids and watch them be enthralled with the lovely simplicity of talking animals working together.
3. The Cat From Outer Space (1978)
The 70's were an awkward and confusing decade for many reasons. President Jimmy Carter, tacky interior design, and whacky movies. One such gem of the 70's is a tongue-in-cheek comedy from Disney called The Cat From Outer Space that sort of pokes fun at old 1950s drive-in movies. A cat from space lands on earth and needs help getting back home. It makes me want to reach through the screen and pet, kiss, and snuggle this little adorable alien feline. Yes, it's ridiculous. Yes, it's hilarious. And, yes, cats.
2. That Darn Cat! (1965)
There's a 90's remake of this movie that's also quite good. However, I went with the original because the wonderful cast features Dean Jones and Hayley Mills, who are Disney stars of a bygone era. The rest of the cast is a recognizable gallery of familiar faces, too. (I love young Roddy McDowell!) Also, the 60's style is quite charming. None of this will mean anything to kids, though. They'll simply love the fun and funny story. This adorable cat goes about solving a kidnap mystery all on her own! Good kitty!
1. The Aristocats (1970)
A wonderful cast of feline characters rounds out this Disney animated classic. A group of "wealthy" kitties must try to get things back to normal after a mean old jealous butler kidnaps them and tries to get rid of them because he's jealous of their little kitty fortune. The Aristocats is full of adorable characters, wonderful music, and gorgeous animation. And lots and lots of cats.
